Information

Frank Gruber is a designer, design director and creative thinker & tinkerer with almost 20 years of professional experience in the field of interactive media.

Originating from southern Germany, he is now based in Hamburg.

Having studied at the Technical University Munich as well as the Technical University of Applied Sciences Augsburg, Gruber holds German university degrees in design and computer science. This laid the foundation for his cross-disciplinary approach to personal and client projects.

Modus Operandi

Frank Gruber works across a variety of digital media and areas ranging from basic branding to all varieties of digital communication and marketing tasks (websites, apps, social media, etc.).

Through research, insights and conceptual thinking, Gruber strives to deliver high-quality creative, visual, and technical solutions. Offering both design and consultancy, his outcomes incorporate usability, accessibility, internationalization and device independence.

Gruber prides himself on his attention to detail, not losing sight of the big picture and an unpretentious and honest mode of operation all the while.

Prior to his freelance career, Gruber was engaged at one of Germany's pioneering digital agencies, Fork Unstable Media. As the Art Director, he has worked on corporate accounts, project business and internal endeavors.

Gruber is actively involved in the local design community and co-organized the German edition of the interaction design event "This happened" in Hamburg. "This happened" was founded in London back in 2007 – today, "This happened" events are taking place in cities all around the world.

He has a vivid interest in all matters related to design and digital culture, including studies & theories, exhibitions, outmoded or latest trends, technological developments, social implications, virals and memes.

Besides all that, his two kids and the neighborhood soccer club also command his attention.
